4 Children Die of Measles in Mymensingh

Four children have died with measles-like symptoms at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) within the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 58.
MMCH Focal Person of the measles isolation ward Golam Maola confirmed the matter. The deceased children include two girls and two boys. Doctors said that the children suffered from pneumonia and respiratory distress in addition to measles symptoms.
Hospital Assistant Director Mainuddin added that authorities have established a review committee to investigate the underlying causes of these deaths. The committee has been directed to submit its findings within 48 hours.
Golam said that 16 new children were admitted to the isolation ward, while nine others were discharged after recovering. 94 children remain under treatment in the ward.
Since 17 March, a total of 2,378 children have been admitted to MMCH with measles symptoms. Of these, 2,226 children have recovered and been discharged.
