Customs seize cigarettes, vapes, mobile displays at Dhaka airport

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized foreign cigarettes, vapes, and mobile displays at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Sunday.
The estimated market value of the seized goods stands at Tk 17,45,500. Officials of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Circle, Airport, maintained surveillance on suspicious passengers arriving on various international flights.
Officials said a passenger named Abdul Karim, who arrived from Dubai on Emirates Airlines flight EK-584, raised suspicion while crossing the Green Channel. Upon searching and inventorying his luggage, officers recovered 223 cartons of foreign cigarettes.
On the same day, searching the baggage of a passenger named Shepon, who arrived from Malaysia on AirAsia flight AK-71, led to the seizure of 44 vapes.
Moreover, officials seized mobile displays from two passengers arriving from Guangzhou on US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-326. A total of 144 mobile displays were recovered, including 98 displays from the luggage of passenger KM Tofael Ahmed and 46 displays from Shamima Akter.
