The government has formed an eight-member cabinet committee, headed by the finance minister, to revise and finalize the draft of the country’s new ‘Visa Policy-2026.’ Based on the committee’s recommendations, the revised draft will be presented at the first cabinet meeting next month. The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification on the matter on Tuesday.

According to the notification, the committee members are the home affairs adviser, foreign affairs adviser, civil aviation and tourism adviser, commerce adviser, law adviser, education adviser, and the executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).

The committee will review, revise and finalize the draft of the ‘Visa Policy-2026.’ If necessary, the committee will also have the authority to co-opt new members. Meetings will be held as needed, and the Ministry of Home Affairs will provide secretarial support to the committee.

In The notification mention that after the draft is finalized in line with the committee’s recommendations, the Ministry of Home Affairs will place it before the first cabinet meeting next month.

Earlier, the draft of the ‘Visa Policy-2026’ was presented at the cabinet meeting held on July 2. At that meeting, it was decided to form a cabinet committee to further revise the draft.
