Prime Minister Tarique Rahman called for the literature and life philosophy of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam to be delivered to the people’s homes instead of being confined within walls.
He made these remarks on Thursday during a meeting held at the Secretariat’s Cabinet Room to mark the commencement of Nazrul Year 2026-2027.
During the session, he highlighted the dual nature of modern progress, saying, “The free flow of information technology and the limitless positive and negative impacts of artificial intelligence have, on one hand, opened the doors of knowledge for our new generation, while on the other, they have also opened the path to losing values and going astray.”
Addressing these challenges, Tarique added that Nazrul’s morally driven works could serve as a beacon of hope for the rising generation. He emphasized, “For this reason, discussions about Nazrul should not be confined within the walls of ministries or government offices; his literary works and his life philosophy must be delivered to every household.”
He said, “I firmly believe that through the celebration of Nazrul Year, the national poet’s creations will be re-evaluated in a new way both at home and abroad. I wish for the success of Nazrul Year.”
To mark the occasion, Tarique also unveiled a commemorative postage stamp and a logo.
The event was attended by LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, State Minister Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom, and Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon.
Other participants included Abdul Hye Shikdar, Hasan Hafiz, and cultural personalities Ashraf Uddin Uzzal and Helal Khan, while field-level officials joined via Zoom.
