At least two people, including a physician, have been killed in Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip. The fatalities resulted from separate strikes carried out by Israel yesterday, Saturday. Meanwhile, Israeli settlers have been attacking Palestinian homes in northern and southern Gaza.
The doctor killed on Saturday was Dr. Jamal Abu Abun, head of the anesthesiology department at Al-Yafa Medical Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. A source from Al-Aqsa Hospital told Anadolu News Agency that Israel carried out a drone strike on civilians near the hospital. Dr. Abu Abun's body, along with three wounded individuals including a child, were brought to the hospital.
Earlier, Israeli forces shelled various areas east and south of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Attacks were also carried out on Al-Bureij refugee camp.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that a separate drone strike on Saturday near the Firas Market, a bustling commercial district in Gaza City, killed one person and injured several others.
Since October 2023, Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza has killed over 72,000 Palestinians. Although a US-backed "ceasefire" agreement was reached last October, Israel has consistently violated it. During this so-called ceasefire period alone, Israel has killed nearly 1,000 Palestinians.
