Oil prices have dropped in the global energy market, influenced by potential peace talks between the United States and Iran in Doha, Qatar.
As of Tuesday morning GMT, Brent crude oil futures for August fell by 0.9 percent, or 64 cents, to $72.51 per barrel. This price is approximately $20, or 22 percent, lower than the last day of the previous month.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a meeting with Iran would take place on Tuesday in Qatar. He indicated that diplomatic negotiations would continue despite recent military tensions.
However, within moments of Trump's announcement, Iran stated that no preparations for a meeting had yet begun and that there were no plans for technical-level discussions this week.
