India to tour Bangladesh in September, discussions between two boards underway

India may tour Bangladesh in the first half of September to play a limited-overs series. Discussions between the two countries' cricket boards are currently ongoing, according to a report by The Times of India.

According to the report, the tour is still awaiting approval from the Indian government. However, the BCCI and BCB are working behind the scenes to move forward with the necessary preparations for hosting the series.

If approval is granted, India's schedule may undergo changes. In that case, the potential series against Afghanistan in Delhi in September could be postponed. That series was originally scheduled to begin on September 13. If that matches are witheld, a slot would be created in the first half of September. And, it could be utilized for Bangladesh tour.

The TOI report further stated that the BCB has kept all international venues in the country vacant during the first half of September, keeping the potential India tour in mind. Meanwhile, Dhaka and Chattogram are the BCCI's preferred venues.

Citing a source, the report said the BCB is also agreeable to hosting all matches at a single venue. However, they would prefer to host three T20Is at one venue and three ODIs at another. The possibility of hosting a series in only one format was also discussed.

Officials from both boards recently held discussions on the matter on the sidelines of the ICC meeting held in London. There, the scheduling of the Afghanistan series and the potential Bangladesh tour received significant attention.

Meanwhile, preparations for the T20 series against Afghanistan have also been temporarily put on hold, the report mentioned.
