Two killed in wall collapse while buying TCB goods in Mirpur

Two people were killed after a wall collapsed while they were waiting to buy goods sold by the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh in Mirpur, the capital. The accident occurred when the rear boundary wall of Mirpur University College collapsed.
One of the victims was Nasima Begum. She lived in the Janata Housing area of Mirpur 2. The identity of the other victim has not yet been confirmed.
Police from Mirpur Model Police Station said seven to eight people were injured in the incident. They were rescued and taken to different hospitals.
Witnesses said the boundary wall of Mirpur University College collapsed at around 1:30 pm Tuesday. Since the morning, people had been standing in line beside the college’s boundary wall in the temple area on Love Road to buy TCB goods. Suddenly, the wall collapsed, crushing some people’s faces and others’ legs. Nasima Begum later died after being taken to a hospital.
Officer in Charge of Mirpur Model Police Station Hafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media.
He said, “Police visited the scene. Two people were killed. The others were rescued and sent to hospitals.”
