Storms and rain expected in 9 regions

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said rain is likely in Dhaka by noon and storms may occur in nine regions across the country. Cautionary signal number 3 remains in effect for the country’s seaports.
According to the weather forecast for the six-hour period starting at 7 am on Tuesday, the sky may remain cloudy to temporarily overcast. There is a possibility of rain or thundershowers. Winds may blow from the south or southeast at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. Daytime temperature is expected to remain mostly unchanged.
At 6 am, the temperature in Dhaka was recorded at 27.8 degrees Celsius, while the air humidity was recorded at 83 percent. The minimum temperature was 27.5 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast for internal river ports from 5 am to 1 pm added that rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or stormy winds from the south or southeast at 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may occur over the regions of Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mymensingh, and Sylhet.
River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
The low pressure that was located on Monday over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent West Bengal-North Odisha coast has moved West-Northwestward and is positioned over the northwest Bay and adjacent West Bengal coastal areas.
Due to its influence, gusty or stormy winds may blow over the seaports, the North Bay, and the coastal areas of Bangladesh. A steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay and surrounding areas.
Due to the impact of the pressure, the seaports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number 3. The forecast also instructs all fishing boats and trawlers stationed in the North Bay to remain in safe shelter until further notice.
