Rain belt departs; further rise in heat across the country feared

The rainfall spell has officially come to an end following continuous intermittent rains across Bangladesh, leading to a significant drop in precipitation. As a result, intense sunlight and muggy, humid weather are expected to intensify across most parts of the country.
The private meteorological organization Bangladesh Weather Observation Team Limited shared these details in its weather forecast for Monday.
According to the forecast, partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies may be observed in parts of the Rangpur and Sylhet divisions, as well as isolated areas in the southern region.
Light to moderate scattered rainfall is expected in isolated spots across the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Meanwhile, the rest of the country may experience only very light, localized showers in one or two places.
With the rain spell becoming inactive, daytime temperatures are likely to rise nationwide, while nighttime temperatures should remain largely unchanged. Most areas can expect between 6 to 10 hours of bright, uninterrupted sunshine during the day.
The organization advised residents in rain-prone areas to remain cautious due to the risk of light to moderate lightning strikes. However, there is no threat of Kalbaishakhi (nor'wester) storms or hailstorms, though temporary gusty winds may occur during periods of rain.
The forecast also noted that there are currently no low-pressure systems affecting marine or inland conditions. The northern Bay of Bengal remains calm and safe, with no weather warnings or warning signals in effect.
During the 24 hours leading up to 6:00 PM on September 13, the country's highest rainfall was recorded in Rangpur at 66 millimeters. Over the same period, the maximum temperature recorded at 35.50°C in Feni and Ramgati, while the minimum temperature was recorded in Bandarban at 23.30°C.
