Zaima Rahman, the daughter of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, visited the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro library in the capital. On Saturday, she spent 30 to 40 minutes touring various sections of the library and expressed her interest in becoming a member. Remarking on the presence of such a rich library within Dhaka, she noted that it houses many of her favorite books.
She was particularly drawn to the documents related to the Liberation War held in the collection. Impressed by the systematic preservation and presentation of these records, she also took photographs of several documents.
The library's collection of old and rare books caught her attention as well. She praised the way these valuable volumes have been kept. Given her personal interest in history, she examined the historical collections with great enthusiasm.
Furthermore, after learning about the center's reading circle activities, she commended the initiative. She expressed a desire to participate in the "Purnima Shondhya" (Full Moon Evening) events organized monthly.
During her visit, she also toured the center's publication sales outlet. She was especially impressed by the collection of Bengali thought-provoking essays, the "Reading for Pleasure" series, the "Kishore Ananda" series, and translated literature from various countries. She subsequently purchased the 18-volume "History of Bengali Thought," the 20-volume "Reading for Pleasure" series, and several books suitable for children and teenagers.
Earlier that day, around 12:00 PM, Zaima Rahman visited the chain bookstore Batighar. Upon seeing the Prime Minister's daughter, some visitors took photographs with her. Her purchases at Batighar included works ranging from Kazi Nazrul Islam to Humayun Ahmed and Anisul Hoque.
