EC plans CCTV at all voting stations for local elections

Election Commission (EC) plans to bring all voting stations under CCTV camera coverage to control the law and order situation during the local government elections.
Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarker made these remarks on Sunday at the Election Building in Agargaon, Dhaka. EC decided to increase the use of body-worn cameras by law enforcement officers and plans to deploy drones to quickly monitor the situation.
To prevent the spread of rumors and misinformation during the election, Anwarul said EC is taking active measures. EC is also prioritizing infrastructural problems to solve at the voting stations.
He added that they would apply lessons from the national parliamentary election to manage the local government elections.
Although EC has not yet announced specific dates for the elections, Anwarul confirmed that they will begin the electoral process with the Union Parishad elections.
