Around 94.70 percent of active garment factories in Dhaka and Chattogram have fully paid Eid bonuses to their workers on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha, according to an official statement issued on Monday by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association.

The BGMEA statement said that out of 2,133 operational garment factories in the two regions, 2,021 factories have already distributed bonus to their workers.

According to BGMEA data, among the active factories, 1,794 are located in Dhaka and 340 in Chattogram. Of these, 1,709 factories in Dhaka and 312 in Chattogram have completed payment of Eid bonuses.

In addition to bonuses, 2,117 factories—accounting for 99.20 percent of operational units—have already paid workers their regular wages for April. This includes 1,783 factories in Dhaka and 334 in Chattogram.

The association also reported that 767 factories, or about 35.94 percent, have paid advance salaries for May.

Meanwhile, BGMEA has also released a phased travel schedule for garment workers leaving Dhaka during the Eid holidays. The plan aims to reduce travel congestion and ease pressure on transport systems.

Under the schedule, workers from 108 factories left Dhaka on May 24. On May 25, workers from 664 factories are set to leave, followed by 771 factories on May 26. In the final phase, workers from the remaining 251 factories are scheduled to depart Dhaka on May 27.
