12 Awami League Leaders and Activists Arrested

Police have arrested 12 leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations in a special drive across several upazilas of Noakhali, aimed at preventing sabotage and untoward incidents surrounding the party’s founding anniversary.
Noakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) NM Nasir Uddin confirmed the matter to Agamir Somoy on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police sources, heightened vigilance has been enforced across all police stations in the district to maintain law and order and ensure public safety. As part of the operation, coordinated raids were carried out in different areas.
During the drives, six individuals were arrested from Sadar Upazila, one from Hatiya, three from Companiganj, and two by the District Detective Branch (DB), bringing the total number of arrests to 12.
SP Nasir Uddin said legal procedures against the detainees are underway. He added that such operations will continue to maintain public safety and peace, warning that any attempt at sabotage or unrest would be dealt with strictly. Police, he said, remain on high alert to keep the situation under control.
