Foreign Minister
Dhaka on Alert Over Push-Ins

Dr. Khalilur Rahman
Following the change of power in West Bengal, Dhaka has taken a cautious stance over a possible “push-in” situation involving alleged forced border crossings.
Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman said Bangladesh will not hesitate to take countermeasures if such push-ins take place.
The foreign minister spoke to reporters on Tuesday afternoon at the state guest house Padma in Dhaka, where he confirmed the position. Earlier, Dr. Rahman also held a meeting with a visiting U.S. delegation in the capital.
He stated that India would decide whether the Teesta water-sharing agreement would move forward under the new government in West Bengal.
He also noted that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman may visit China by June this year. The visit would prioritize the Teesta master plan, which the current government has committed to implementing.
The foreign minister further said that the prime minister maintains special commitments toward friendly countries such as China and India.
