A coal crisis left India’s Adani Power unable to meet electricity demand for over a month, and a technical fault later shut down one of its plant units, halving supply and worsening load-shedding nationwide.

According to Power Development Board (PDB) sources, electricity generation increased Wednesday evening following an increase in coal supply, with power supply exceeding 1,400 megawatts.

However, on Friday, one unit of the power plant shut down due to a technical fault, causing power supply to decrease and fall below 750 megawatts. It remains uncertain when it will be repaired.

A maximum of nearly 1,500 megawatts of electricity is supplied from Adani’s coal-fired power plant constructed in Jharkhand, India.
