Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milan has said that the alleged campaign over question paper leaks is nothing more than a rumor and has already been proven false. He made the claim in a Facebook post on Saturday.
In the post, the education minister wrote, “The alleged campaign over question paper leaks has already been proven beyond doubt to be nothing but a rumor. In this situation, the NCP, a political party born in the backdrop of the 2024 mass uprising, issued a statement without any fact-checking on this completely baseless propaganda. This is not only condemnable but also extremely disappointing.”
Earlier, in a statement, NCP Joint Member Secretary and Education and Research Secretary Faysal Mahmud Shanto said that although allegations of question paper leaks had been raised since the 20th of the month, no visible action had been taken by the Education Ministry or relevant authorities so far.
The NCP said the government’s alleged negligence was pushing the country’s education system toward destruction.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka Education Board has urged students, parents, and the general public to remain alert regarding false and misleading information about question paper leaks surrounding the ongoing SSC examinations.
In a warning notice issued on Saturday and signed by the board’s Controller of Examinations, Professor S. M. Kamal Uddin Haider, the board made the appeal.
The notice said a dishonest group is spreading false information on social media about question paper leaks in an attempt to create confusion, panic, and moral decay among students and guardians. It added that the group is involved in disrupting the ongoing examinations for illegal financial gain and to damage the government’s image.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, at a press conference at the Media Center of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Joint Commissioner Munshi Shahabuddin said that four people had been detained from different parts of the country on charges of fraud related to fake SSC question paper leaks.
He said an organized group had been promoting fake question papers on social media to sell them as part of the ongoing SSC exams. Many people fell into the trap and purchased those fake papers, through which the group allegedly embezzled a large sum of money.
