A question has been raised in the National Parliament regarding the latest health condition of Dhaka-8 lawmaker Mirza Abbas.
During Tuesday’s parliamentary session, Patuakhali-2 MP Shafiqul Islam Masud raised the issue while speaking on a point of order, seeking updated information about the opposition lawmaker’s physical condition.
The discussion also touched on broader issues, including the status of two ruling party MPs facing loan default-related cases and comments made by former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi. The MP also referenced various recent rumors circulating in political discourse.
In response, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed stated that Mirza Abbas had informed Parliament through a letter that his health condition is steadily improving and that he would return to the House once fully recovered.
Regarding other issues raised, the Speaker said matters that are under judicial process or based on rumors cannot be discussed in Parliament. He added that any final court decision regarding a lawmaker’s membership would be formally communicated to Parliament in due course.
