Schoolteacher dies after hijackers attack in Dhaka

A schoolteacher died after falling from a rickshaw during hijacker’s attack in National Parliament area, Dhaka on Saturday morning.
DMP Tejgaon Division’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ibne Mizan confirmed the matter. The deceased, Mst Ranjina Parveen, was the principal of Bagbari Girls’ Government Primary School in Bogura.
She traveled from Bogura to Dhaka to visit the Islamia Eye Hospital in Dhaka’s Farmgate area. After getting off the bus at Gabtoli, she set off toward the hospital on a rickshaw. As she reached the Parliament area, hijackers on a motorcycle snatched her bag from behind.
This caused her to fall from the rickshaw and sustain a head injury. Later, after she was rescued and taken to Suhrawardy Hospital, doctors declared her dead. However, family members refused to speak with media regarding the incident.
Ibne Mizan said, “We are working to identify the motorcycle and those involved. We hope to identify and arrest them very soon.”
