Bangladeshi Dies in New Delhi Hotel Fire

A Bangladeshi national injured in a hotel fire in the Malviya Nagar area of New Delhi has died. The deceased was identified as Md. Nurul Amin (44). With his death, the number of fatalities from the devastating incident involving citizens of multiple countries has risen to 22.
The information was confirmed on Thursday night through a post on the verified Facebook page of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi. The mission stated that two Bangladeshi families were severely affected by the tragedy, including the family of the deceased.
According to the High Commission, the fire broke out on Wednesday (June 3) morning in a building in Malviya Nagar. The ground floor housed a restaurant, while the upper floors operated as a hotel. Citizens from several countries were among the casualties.
So far, the deceased include nationals from India, Mozambique, Liberia, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and Bangladesh, while 28 people have been injured.
The High Commission said efforts are underway to expedite the repatriation of Nurul Amin’s body to Bangladesh. At the same time, regular communication is being maintained with Indian authorities and hospitals to ensure treatment and support for the injured Bangladeshis.
Officials from the Bangladesh High Commission are also staying in constant contact with injured Bangladeshis receiving treatment at various hospitals in Delhi. The Bangladeshi High Commissioner personally visited Max Hospital to check on the injured and discuss their medical condition with doctors.
According to the High Commission, members of two Bangladeshi families had been staying in Delhi for medical treatment and were affected by the fire while staying at the hotel. Earlier reports said that three of the eight injured Bangladeshis were in critical condition.
