Man arrested near Pakistan embassy impersonating a DGFI Assistant Director

A man was arrested in Gulshan, Dhaka, after loitering around the Prime Minister's residence and the Pakistan Embassy while claiming to be an officer of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). Upon verifying his identity, police confirmed that he is not a member of the DGFI or the Bangladesh Army.
He was detained on Saturday evening around 7:15 PM while moving around suspiciously in the Gulshan North Avenue area.
Following the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) Ujjal Chakraborty filed a case at Gulshan Police Station that same night.
The arrested youth has been identified as Md. Saif Imran (37). He resides in the Bashundhara Residential Area of the capital and hails from Khasa village in the Beanibazar Municipality area of Sylhet.
The details were confirmed by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Anwar Hossain of Gulshan Police Station.
Citing the First Information Report (FIR), he stated that Imran was detained while parking his motorcycle on Gulshan North Avenue, adjacent to the Prime Minister's residence and west of the Pakistan Embassy. Earlier on Saturday afternoon, he had parked his motorcycle at the same spot. When police officers instructed him not to park there, he identified himself as an Assistant Director (AD) of the DGFI.
Later in the evening, he returned to the same location. Finding his attire and behavior suspicious, the police detained him for questioning. During interrogation, he admitted that he was neither a DGFI officer nor a member of the Bangladesh Army. Police subsequently confirmed this by contacting DGFI officials.
SI Anwar Hossain added that a Bangladesh Army raincoat, a mobile backpack, a black wallet bearing the letters "DGFI," two keys attached to a key ring featuring the army logo, and two mobile phones were recovered from Imran. A white Royal Enfield motorcycle used by him—which had no registration—was also seized.
