Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that all types of facilities and opportunities for the people have been developed with a centering focus on Dhaka. Consequently, people from all over the country gravitate toward the capital.
The Prime Minister made these remarks on Wednesday while responding to a question in the National Parliament. Earlier, the parliamentary session commenced at 11:00 AM.
The Prime Minister remarked, "Unfortunately, in one way or another, we have observed that people's facilities—whether in terms of employment, healthcare, or children's education—have all been built around Dhaka. This didn't happen overnight; it has been developing this way for many years."
Tarique Rahman added, "We have perhaps not yet been able to develop these facilities across the entire country in that manner. That is why people naturally flock toward Dhaka. Therefore, as part of our long-term planning, our goal is to gradually establish these basic facilities in every part of the country."
While answering the question, the Prime Minister highlighted various development plans of the current government. He stated, "The current government is working to establish special industrial zones in different parts of the country to foster various industries. Simultaneously, we are trying to develop medical services nationwide and gradually build quality educational institutions in different regions for the education of our future generations."
"If we can develop these facilities, people will be less inclined to come to Dhaka. Through this, I believe we will eventually be able to reduce the pressure on the capital."
