Actress Azmeri Haque Badhon is all set to lodge a case with the local police station following the allegations of attack and harassment in Venice, Italy. She has said that many of those involved in the incident have already been identified.
Badhon made these remarks during a Facebook Live session from her verified page on Tuesday afternoon.
She said: "Since yesterday, a lot of people have been calling (me). Many are asking about me, wanting to know where I am and how I am doing. They are asking whether I am okay. I want to tell everyone – I am fine."
Badhon added: "I never bow my head, and I never have. I have forgotten how to do that. It is not that easy to break me. The police here have helped me a lot."
The actress also said that after the incident, the Italian police took her to a safe place. "Last night, they took me to a safe location. Today, the Ambassador from our embassy rang me. Their people are coming."
Regarding the case, Bandhan said: "I am going to the police station to file a case. Since I have all the evidence, and we have already identified many people." At that time, she also mentioned that the Prime Minister's Office in Bangladesh had also contacted her.
Earlier, on Monday night (7 September), Bandhan alleged that she was harassed while spending time with her brother and his family in a park in Mestre, Italy. According to her account, several individuals threw water, soft drinks, and eggs at her and physically harassed her. She also alleged that her mobile phone was thrown away.
Bandhan claimed that the attackers called her a "July fighter" and forced her to chant "Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu." In videos circulating on social media, a group of people can be seen arguing with and harassing her.
Following the incident, the Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary, K M Nazmul Haque, said that Bandhan is safe and that steps have been taken to file a case under local law. The Bangladesh Consulate has also been reported to have contacted her.
