Grief Grips Villagers After Death of Tofail Ahmed

Koralia village in Dakshin Dighaldi Union of Bhola Sadar Upazila has fallen silent in mourning as news spread of the death of veteran politician and key Liberation War organizer Tofail Ahmed, a son of the village.
As news of his death broke on Monday afternoon, relatives, political associates, well-wishers, and people from various walks of life gathered at his residence. Many broke down in tears, overwhelmed by grief over the loss of the beloved leader, while others struggled to speak as they recalled memories of him.
Locals said Tofail Ahmed was not only a politician but also a symbol of trust for the people of Bhola.
Family sources said his funeral prayer will be held on Tuesday at Bhola Government High School ground after the Zuhr prayer. He will later be buried beside his mother’s grave at the family cemetery in Dakshin Dighaldi.
As news of his death spread, a wave of mourning swept through Koralia village and surrounding areas of Dakshin Dighaldi Union in Bhola Sadar Upazila. Relatives, political colleagues, well-wishers, and people from different professions gathered at his home. Many became speechless in grief, while others broke down in tears while recalling his life and work.
Local residents said Tofail Ahmed was not just a politician; he served as a guardian figure for the people of Bhola. Alongside his leadership role in major national political events, his contributions to the development of Bhola will be remembered for a long time. They said he consistently stood beside people during disasters and crises, and his name defined Bhola’s identity.
Elders of the village said that although he played an important role in national politics, he maintained a deep connection with his birthplace and its people. Whenever possible, he visited his village home and inquired about local residents. With his death, the people of Bhola have lost an experienced and popular leader.
