Father allegedly kills 2-month-old son in Feni

A man allegedly killed his two-month-old child by bashing him on the ground in Fulgazi, Feni.
Fulgazi Police Station OC (Investigation) Md Nurul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday. The mas has been identified as Md Sultan. The child was named Mohammad Junaid.
Family sources said that Sultan married Runa Akhtar two years ago. Since their marriage, the couple had been residing in a residential colony adjacent to the Fulgazi Land Office. Runa gave birth to their son, Junaid, two months ago.
Runa alleged that her husband was a day labourer and a drug addict. She added that she was outside the house around 7pm, leaving Sultan alone with the infant. The child was crying, and becoming irritated, Sultan bashed the boy onto the ground.
Upon returning to the room, Runa found her son gasping for breath and struggling on the floor. She rescued Junaid and took first to the Munshir Hat Health Complex and then to Feni General Hospital, where the doctor declared the infant dead.
Feni General Hospital Resident Medical Officer Rokonuddoul said that the child died due to injuries sustained before arriving at the hospital.
OC Nurul added that legal action will be taken once the mother files a written complaint. Police searched for Sultan late at night but could not locate him.
