State gets strong when people become economically empowered: PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government's primary goal is to guide the country toward a robust economic and social position. He emphasized, "Along with political rights, ensuring people's economic capability is essential. To this end, the government will provide all necessary policy support to encourage domestic entrepreneurs to invest and create jobs."
The Prime Minister made these remarks on Tuesday at the Cabinet Division conference room in the Secretariat during a lease agreement signing ceremony, where three closed state-owned jute mills were handed over to two private companies. Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Hasan Shiplu, confirmed the information to the media.
Highlighting the core philosophy, the head of government noted, "A state grows strong when the economic capacity of its people is secured. No state can become strong by keeping its ordinary citizens in poverty or by silencing their voices."
He pledged to stand alongside the country's genuine entrepreneurs, adding, "The government will extend the necessary support. Supporting entrepreneurs will not only generate employment and secure livelihoods for the people, but it will also elevate the overall economic situation."
The Prime Minister further said, "We want to build a country where everyone moves toward a better condition than where they are today. That is our core vision and objective."
Underscoring the importance of domestic investment alongside foreign direct investment, the Prime Minister said, "Foreign investment will certainly come, and the government welcomes it. However, local investors and entrepreneurs must also be encouraged. The government will extend all requisite policy support needed for their business and investment growth."
The event was also addressed by Commerce, Industries, and Textiles & Jute Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir; State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam; Textiles and Jute Secretary Sharaf Uddin Ahmad Chowdhury; PRAN-RFL Group Chairman Ahsan Khan Chowdhury; and Hamko Group Managing Director A.T.M. Mostafa. Senior officials from the BJMC and the lessee companies were present at the ceremony.
