Rain, gusty winds lash Dhaka, 8 regions on alert

Intermittent rain has been occurring in Dhaka since Thursday morning. Bangladesh Meteorological Office said rain might continue until 1 pm and storms with speeds ranging from 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may occur across nine regions of the country.
The forecast for inland river ports, effective from 5 am to 1 pm, added that rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or stormy winds from the south or southeast, at speeds of 45 to 60 km/h, may sweep over Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar.
River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the six hours starting at 7 am said the sky may remain cloudy to overcast. Rain or thundershowers may occur and winds may blow from the south or southeast at speeds of 10 to 15 km/h. Daytime temperatures may drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
At 6 am, the temperature in Dhaka was 25.6 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 98 percent. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature recorded was 34 degrees Celsius, and saw 27 mm of rainfall.
