Seven coaches of the Dhaka bound intercity Jayantika Express
became detached after the engine’s hook broke on a hilly slope inside Lawachara
National Park in Moulvibazar. A wheel of the rescue train also derailed while
it was heading to the site to rescue the affected train.
The coaches of the Jayantika Express became detached at
around 1:30 pm Friday. Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the
country has remained suspended since then.
