The High Court has granted bail to television actor Zaheer
Alvi, also known as Md. Niamat Ullah Bhuiyan, in a case filed over allegations
of abetting the suicide of his wife, Afra Ibnat Ikra. As a result, there is no
legal obstacle to his release from prison.
The order was issued on Sunday by the High Court bench of
Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher. Senior lawyer Zainul
Abedin represented Zaheer Alvi during the bail hearing before the court.
