Mushfiqur Rahim injured his finger while batting in the nets on the eve of Bangladesh’s first Test against the West Indies in Mirpur. Due to the pain in his finger, Mushfiq could not complete his net session. He returned to the dressing room without finishing his batting practice.
However, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said the injury was not very serious. As a result, there are currently no major concerns about Mushfiq’s availability for the playing XI in the first Test of the series.
The concern is also somewhat reduced because Mushfiq no longer keeps wickets in Test cricket. Litton Das takes over the wicketkeeping duties. Therefore, unless the injury proves serious, there is little doubt about Mushfiq’s participation in the match.
Mushfiqur, who has played a team high of 106 Test matches for Bangladesh, could reach the milestone of 7,000 Test runs during this series. He has scored 6,957 runs at an average of 39.08. After reaching the milestone in ODIs, Mushfiq needs just 43 more runs to achieve the same landmark in Test cricket.
