Bangladesh's stock market closed mixed on Monday, the second trading day of the week, with turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dropping below Tk 10 billion. Most listed securities also ended the session lower.

Data from the DSE showed that the benchmark DSE index edged up slightly from the previous session, while the DSE Shariah Index and the DS30 Index, which tracks 30 blue-chip companies, both declined. Of the issues traded, 148 advanced, 182 declined, and 58 remained unchanged.

Market activity weakened in value terms. Total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 9.67 billion, down Tk 1.04 billion from Tk 10.70 billion recorded in the previous trading session.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also posted a subdued performance. Its benchmark index fell, while the majority of traded securities lost value. A total of 245 securities changed hands on the CSE, generating turnover of Tk 111.5 million.

Malek Spinning Mills PLC topped the DSE turnover chart with shares worth Tk 471.64 million traded during the session. Techno Drugs ranked second, followed by Summit Alliance Ltd.

Other heavily traded stocks included ACI Formulations, Far East Knitting, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Genex Infosys, IPDC Finance, M.L. Dyeing, and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC.

Mutual funds dominated the gainers' list. LR Global Bangladesh Mutual Fund One and MBL 1st Mutual Fund secured the top two positions, while Sonargaon Textiles ranked third.

Other gainers included NCCBL Mutual Fund-One, M.L. Dyeing, Green Delta Mutual Fund, Trust Bank First Mutual Fund, ACI Formulations, Midland Bank, and Eastern Lubricants.

Insurance companies mostly declined. Probhati Insurance Company Ltd. recorded the steepest decline, followed by Karnaphuli Insurance and United Insurance.

Other major decliners included Standard Insurance, Dhaka Insurance, AIBL 1st Islamic Mutual Fund, Meghna Insurance, Purabi General Insurance, Express Insurance, and Crystal Insurance.
