6 More Die from Measles and Symptoms

Six more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, from 8:00 AM Monday to 8:00 AM Tuesday, in Bangladesh. Of them, four children died with measles-like symptoms, while two died after confirmed measles infection.
During the same period, 1,445 children were newly admitted to hospitals with measles infection or related symptoms.
The latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released on Tuesday provided this information.
The DGHS said that in the past one and a half months, 317 children have died nationwide due to measles and its symptoms. Of them, 54 deaths were confirmed as measles cases, while 263 children died with suspected measles symptoms.
During the same period, 5,726 cases were confirmed as measles infections through testing. In addition, 42,979 children were admitted to hospitals with measles-like symptoms.
Dhaka division reported the highest number of infections and deaths. In this division alone, 163 children have died from measles and related symptoms, while 23,360 children have been infected.
