On Saturday morning, the man’s young daughter came to see her father who had been tied up. She thought her father was hungry. So, the girl bought tea and bread from a nearby shop and fed her father with her own hands. A young man recorded the scene and posted the video on Facebook. The video went viral.
The viral video shows the girl sitting beside her father who was tied to a pole and feeding him bread and tea. After the incident spread, it drew various reactions from local residents. Many said the allegation of theft should be investigated and the matter should be resolved through legal proceedings. However, the sight of the child rushing to feed her father after seeing him tied to a pole touched the hearts of many people present. Despite widespread discussions and criticism across the country, most netizens praised the girl.
The incident took place at Bamrail Bazar in Wazirpur, Barishal.
Locals said a young man named Anik Sardar was detained by local residents late Friday night, September 25, on allegations of attempting to steal from a shop. He was later tied to a pole in the market. Around 9 am on Saturday, a written undertaking was taken from Anik Sardar. He was then released into the custody of his guardian.
Wazirpur Model Police Station’s Officer in Charge (Investigation) Faruk said, “After receiving information that a person had been detained on allegations of theft, a decision was made to send a mobile team to the scene. Later, local residents took a written undertaking from the man and released him.”
