Seven More Deaths from Measles, Suspected Cases

Seven more people have died from measles and related symptoms in the past 24 hours in Bangladesh. During the same period, 1,494 new cases of measles and measles-like symptoms have been recorded.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued on Friday by the Health Department’s control room. The data covers the 24-hour period from 8 a.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday.
According to the Health Department, two of the deaths occurred in Dhaka Division, while Khulna reported one death, Sylhet three, and Barishal one.
The release stated that 1,212 suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours. From March 15 to May 8, a total of 46,710 suspected cases were recorded.
During the same period, 282 confirmed measles cases were reported. Since March 15, the total number of confirmed cases has reached 6,490.
The Health Department further reported that 32,862 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals between March 15 and May 8. Of them, 29,152 patients recovered and were discharged within the same period.
