Prisoner dies at hospital after falling ill in Narayanganj jail

A prisoner named Md Sajib Ahmed (25), who fell ill at Narayanganj District Jail has died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
He died on Wednesday night.
Sajib’s home is in Maijpara area of Ward 2 under Narayanganj City Corporation.
Narayanganj District Jail Superintendent Abdul Quddus confirmed the death and said Sajib had been admitted to the jail hospital after falling ill several days ago. His condition deteriorated last Saturday and he was taken to Khanpur 300 Bed Hospital in Narayanganj. Doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. He later died there.
The jail superintendent said, “Sajib was overweight and had blood pressure problems. His physical condition deteriorated due to his illness.”
On July 12, Siddhirganj police arrested Sajib with a foreign revolver and bullets while he was allegedly preparing to commit robbery. He was later sent to jail through the court. Several cases have been filed against him.
