Measles, Symptom-Related Death Toll Surpasses 700

Four children died with measles-related symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours. As a result, the number of deaths from measles and related symptoms since March 15 this year has risen to 702.
The Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services disclosed the information in a report published Friday afternoon.
According to the report, no child died from confirmed measles during the 24-hour period from 8 am Thursday to 8 am Friday. However, four children died after exhibiting suspected measles symptoms.
During the same period, health authorities identified measles symptoms in 869 children. In addition, laboratory tests confirmed measles infection in 107 people. The number of suspected measles cases recorded in the past 24 hours stood at 869, while the total number of suspected cases reported between March 15 and June 26 reached 97,522.
Health authorities confirmed 107 measles cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases recorded between March 15 and June 26 to 11,549.
Between March 15 and June 26, hospitals admitted 81,283 patients with suspected measles. During the same period, 77,613 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
