Measles death toll surpasses 800

Six more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, from 8 pm Thursday to 8 am Wednesday, raising the total number of child deaths linked to measles and measles symptoms to 803 since March 15. During the same period, 1,037 people developed measles symptoms.
The information was revealed in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular measles situation report released on Wednesday.
The statement said that six more children died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. However, no child died from laboratory confirmed measles during the period.
Since March 15, a total of 708 children have died with measles symptoms across the country. Another 95 children have died after being infected with measles. That brings the total number of child deaths linked to measles and measles symptoms to 803 during the period.
In addition, 133 children were infected with measles in the past 24 hours, while 904 people were reported with measles symptoms.
