Nine More Children Die with Measles Symptoms

Nine more people have died with symptoms of measles across Bangladesh. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported the information today, Thursday, in its regular measles bulletin.
The report said the deaths occurred between 8 am on Wednesday and 8 am Thursday.
Of the nine people who died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, eight were from the Dhaka Division and one was from the Sylhet Division.
According to the DGHS report, 605 children have died with measles symptoms since March 15. Authorities have confirmed measles as the cause of death for 93 children. The total death toll now stands at 698.
The DGHS report said authorities received reports of measles symptoms in 893 more children across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 96,653 children have developed symptoms of measles.
Health authorities confirmed 52 new measles cases in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, they have detected measles in a total of 11,442 children nationwide.
Since March 15, hospitals have admitted 80,497 children with measles symptoms. Of them, 76,788 have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
