Six dies from measles and symptoms in one day, 1,390 infected

Two people died from confirmed measles and four others died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours across the country. This brings the total number of deaths from measles and related symptoms to six in one day. During the same period, 1,390 new suspected and confirmed measles cases were reported.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in a statement on Wednesday. The figures cover the period from 8 am Tuesday to 8 am Wednesday.
According to DGHS data, 1,140 people have died from measles and related symptoms in the country so far this year. Of them, 104 died from confirmed measles and 1,036 died with measles symptoms.
It said two people died with measles symptoms in Dhaka Division, one in Sylhet and one in Chattogram Division in the past 24 hours. Two confirmed measles deaths were also reported, both in Dhaka Division.
During the same period, 1,280 new people developed measles symptoms. The total number of suspected patients has now risen to 200,293.
