Government approves purchase of two LNG cargoes from South Korea and the UK

The government has approved the purchase of two cargoes of liquefied natural gas from South Korea and the United Kingdom.
The approval was given at the 41st meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on Monday.
At the meeting, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division presented a proposal to purchase two cargoes of LNG through the international quotation collection process. The committee approved the proposal following the application.
According to the approved proposal, one cargo will be purchased from POSCO International Corporation at $24.625 per MMBtu for delivery between September 13 and 14. Another cargo will be purchased from TotalEnergies at $24.25 per MMBtu for delivery between September 23 and 24.
A total of 13 proposals were presented and discussed at the meeting including this one.
Earlier last Wednesday, the government approved the purchase of one cargo of liquefied natural gas or LNG to meet the country’s energy demand. The LNG will be purchased through the international quotation collection process at a price of $23.93 per MMBtu. The LNG will be purchased from Aramco Trading Singapore Private Limited.
According to a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the LNG will be purchased through the international quotation collection process in accordance with Rule 105, Subrule 3, Clause (a) of the Public Procurement Rules 2025. Under the proposal, the LNG will be purchased between September 1 and 2.
