The ban on tourist travel in Bandarban has been extended until July 15 as adverse weather conditions and heavy rainfall persist. The Tourism Branch of the Bandarban district administration announced the information on Friday evening.
The public notice issued in this regard was signed by District Commissioner and District Magistrate Md. Samiul Ferdous.
It said, “As heavy rainfall continues and risks remain in the communication system, the duration of the restriction has been extended.”
Earlier, around 90 tourists were stranded due to heavy rainfall while traveling to remote areas of Thanchi Upazila. They were later rescued safely and returned to their respective destinations on Tuesday through a coordinated effort by the local administration, law enforcement agencies and the relevant organizations.
The district administration has requested tourists and travel enthusiasts to refrain from visiting Bandarban until weather conditions improve and to comply with government directives.
In a public notice issued on July 6, tourist travel in Bandarban was banned until July 10. Later, another public notice published on July 8 extended the restriction until July 12 due to adverse weather conditions.
