The government has directed all CNG filling stations across the country to remain open 24 hours a day to ensure smooth vehicle movement ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. Sources at the Energy Division said the decision will remain in effect from May 23 to June 2.
Officials said CNG stations will operate round the clock for a total of 13 days, covering seven days before Eid, the Eid day, and five days after Eid. The move aims to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply for long-distance and other vehicles and facilitate hassle-free travel for homebound passengers.
At present, CNG stations in and around the capital and other areas remain closed during specific hours to maintain gas pressure and balance supply between industrial and residential users. The usual restriction keeps stations closed daily from 6 pm to 11 pm.
However, the restriction has been temporarily relaxed for the Eid period. Officials expect the measure to ease fuel shortages during Eid travel and reduce passenger suffering.
