The Saudi-led coalition supporting the legitimate government in Yemen has vowed a 'stern response' to the deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh. Saturday's attack left 12 people dead and 309 injured.
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki stated that the Houthi attack on the airport's passenger terminal constitutes a "full-fledged war crime" under international humanitarian law.
In a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Maliki said, "The attack on King Khalid International Airport is a terrorist act. A stern response will be given to it."
He further stated that the joint forces of the coalition will respond to this attack in accordance with international humanitarian law and established norms.

Following the attack, operations at King Khalid International Airport were temporarily suspended to assess the damage. According to flight tracking website FlightAware, at least 291 flights at the airport were canceled within a 24-hour period.
Hours after the attack in Riyadh, Al-Maliki reported that a missile or projectile landed near King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, in Saudi Arabia's eastern region. He later announced that a drone targeting the eastern part of the country had been intercepted.
In a separate incident, the coalition also claimed to have intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile over the Al-Kharj area.
