Israel is preparing for a new military operation targeting Iran. An Israeli media outlet has claimed that preparations are underway to carry out the operation either in coordination with the United States or independently.
Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported on Monday that the Israeli military is preparing for a possible attack on Iran. At the same time, it is maintaining close intelligence and military coordination with the US military.
According to the report, Israel is preparing both to respond if Iran launches an attack and to carry out a preemptive strike. However, it assessed that the possibility of an Israeli or US attack before the US midterm elections in November is relatively low.
The report said Israel still considers Iran's nuclear program a major concern.
Meanwhile, Israeli news outlet Walla reported on Sunday that the United States is preparing to send more troops and military aircraft to Israel in the coming weeks amid the possibility of rising tensions in the Middle East.
Citing security officials who spoke on condition of anonymity, Walla reported that around 3,000 US troops are currently deployed across Israel. They include troops operating air defense systems, pilots, support personnel and members involved in logistics.
According to the report, more US troops and military aircraft could arrive in Israel in the coming weeks. Washington wants to further strengthen its military presence in the Middle East through this deployment.
Walla also reported that the Israeli military is continuing its preparations in view of the possibility of a renewed conflict with Iran or a rapid escalation of regional tensions. At the same time, close coordination is being maintained with CENTCOM.
Amid the situation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that Tehran is ready to continue talks to seek a “fair solution” through diplomacy.
In late September, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Iran presented seven conditions to the United States through Qatari mediation regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Araghchi said the strait could be reopened within seven days if the conditions are met.
However, US President Donald Trump later said Washington had not accepted Iran's conditions. As a result, military preparations surrounding Iran are continuing alongside diplomatic efforts.
