Top EU Diplomat Calls Pakistan a Major Regional Power

The European Union's top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, has described Pakistan as a major regional power and an important partner of the European Union (EU).
Kallas, the Vice-President of the European Commission and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (HR/VP), made these remarks today (Monday) during a meeting in Islamabad.
Pakistan was represented at the meeting by the country's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar. Kallas is visiting Pakistan at his invitation.
The two sides held the highest level of structured discussions during the 8th EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue held today.
Speaking at a joint press conference after the talks, Kallas said, "Pakistan is a major regional power and an important partner for the European Union."
She said, "Today at the Strategic Dialogue, we reaffirmed our joint commitment to further strengthen EU-Pakistan relations."
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry reported that Dar and Kallas acknowledged the positive trajectory of Pakistan-EU relations and agreed to further strengthen their mutually beneficial partnership.
