At least eight Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza over the past 24 hours. Palestinian authorities said Israel has continued its attacks in violation of the ceasefire that took effect nearly a year ago.

Among those killed on Wednesday was Palestinian journalist Muhammad Abdel Aziz Al Najjar. Gaza’s Government Media Office confirmed his death. However, it did not say where or how he was killed.

It also said that 263 journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 2023.

Meanwhile, six people traveling in a passenger van were killed in an Israeli drone strike in the Tal Al Hawa area of southwestern Gaza City. Witnesses and medical sources provided the information.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its teams transported 13 people injured in the attack to Al Quds Hospital. Medical sources said the injured were in critical condition.

Hind Khoudary, Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Gaza City, reported that doctors were facing difficult conditions while trying to save the lives of the injured. Gaza’s health system has been severely damaged by prolonged Israeli attacks and the blockade. As a result, there are concerns that the death toll could rise further.

Earlier, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that at least one woman was killed in an Israeli attack on a residential apartment near Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

Four Palestinians were injured in an Israeli drone strike on a shelter for displaced people in southern Gaza. Local sources said two children were among the injured.

Two more Palestinians were seriously injured in an Israeli attack in the southeastern part of Deir Al Balah in central Gaza. Israeli tank shelling was also reported in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry said information on the bodies of nine people had been received from various hospitals over the past 24 hours. Eight of them were killed in attacks. One woman died after being injured in an earlier attack.

The ministry said at least 1,431 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the October ceasefire took effect. Another 5,026 people have been injured during this period. Thirty-one people were injured over the past 24 hours.

Hind Khoudary, Al Jazeera’s correspondent, said that although a ceasefire is supposed to be in place in Gaza, violence by Israeli forces has not stopped. People are being killed and injured every day. At the same time, the humanitarian situation is deteriorating.

She said people in Gaza are now afraid to go to markets, take their children to school or even live normal lives.

According to Gaza health officials, at least 74,032 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in the enclave since October 2023. Another 175,142 people have been injured.

An August analysis by the United Nations Satellite Centre said the number of destroyed structures in Gaza had increased by 9 percent even after the ceasefire took effect.

According to the United Nations, around 82 percent of structures in Gaza have been damaged. The number is approximately 200,000 buildings. Nearly two thirds of these structures have been completely destroyed since the war began.
