Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, has claimed that the United States has signaled its willingness to accept seven conditions set by Iran. He said Tehran is awaiting Washington’s response to recent discussions with mediators. However, no negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program will take place until the conditions are fulfilled.

In an interview with state broadcaster IRIB, Rezaei said, “A proposal has come from the United States that is better than before. It indicates that Washington is ready to accept our seven conditions.”

He said Iran’s seven conditions are different from the issues agreed upon in a memorandum of understanding with the United States in Islamabad. Qatar and Pakistan are leading the mediation efforts in this regard.

Rezaei said, “We will force the United States to accept our conditions and change its behavior. Then we will discuss other issues.” He added, “We are sincere about diplomacy. However, we will not give up the rights of our people.”

He also said that one of Iran’s seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz is international recognition of an agreement reached with Oman. According to him, “One of our seven conditions is the formal international registration of the agreement reached with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz. This will clearly establish Iran’s management of vessel traffic through the strait.”

Regarding negotiations on the nuclear program, Rezaei said discussions would take place only after the United States fulfills Iran’s conditions.

He also said discussions were underway on whether Iran would follow its previous nuclear policy if war broke out again. However, the Iranian government has not yet made any decision on changing the country’s nuclear policy.
