Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for launching attacks on US military installations across three Middle East countries.
The IRGC has said that this military operation was conducted in response to the latest US strikes, targeting bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. The IRGC said several targets at the US Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain were destroyed early Wednesday morning under a military operation codenamed "Nasr 2." They claimed the strikes successfully destroyed the command and control center, naval support management facility, warehouses, and fuel tanks at the Fifth Fleet base.
Meanwhile, Bahrain's Ministry of Interior has urged citizens to remain calm and seek shelter in the nearest safe locations. The IRGC further claimed that a fire broke out after they attacked a US logistics hub located in Kuwait early this morning. According to the organization, they targeted the "primary logistics and support hub of the US military in West Asia," located in Mina Abdullah, Kuwait.
In a statement published by Iranian state media IRIB, the IRGC said that the facility was set on fire and destroyed during the fourth phase of their "Nasr 2" military operation. Kuwait's Ministry of Defense confirmed it is responding to the Iranian drone strikes, adding that the loud explosions heard across the country are the result of intercepting the incoming drones. Meanwhile, the Iranian military also claimed to have struck the positions of US F-18 fighter jets at the Azraq base in Jordan.
The Iranian military said it has launched the eighth phase of a new drone campaign targeting US military bases in the region. According to their statement, explosive drones were used for a second time to target the hangars housing F-18 fighter jets and heavy equipment at Jordan's Azraq air base. Jordan Intercepts Iranian Missiles as US Conducts Major Strikes on Iran The Jordanian military announced that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down four ballistic missiles that entered Jordan's airspace from Iranian territory early this morning. Prior to this, the US military reported that it had concluded another round of airstrikes against Iran at around 10:00 PM local time on Tuesday.
According to the US statement, dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and coastal regions of Iran were hit. US Central Command (CENTCOM) detailed that during the seven-hour operation, US fighter jets, drones, and naval vessels used precision-guided munitions to strike Iranian missile and drone bases, naval capabilities, and coastal defense systems. The US military maintained that these strikes were aimed at further degrading Iran's capability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian mariners. The statement added that this military action took place on the same day the US military reinstated a naval blockade on vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas, which went into effect at 4:00 PM on Tuesday.
