Iran-backed Hezbollah agrees to stop attacks on Israel

The Iran-backed Lebanese armed group Hezbollah has pledged to halt attacks on Israel, accepting a Washington-proposed ceasefire plan.
The Lebanese government has stated that both parties have accepted a US plan under which Hezbollah will cease attacks on Israel, and Israel will not carry out strikes on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
The Lebanese Embassy in the United States has clarified that Hezbollah has confirmed its acceptance of the US proposal to cease mutual hostilities.
In a statement late Monday night, the Lebanese Embassy said that according to Washington's proposed framework, Hezbollah will refrain from attacking Israel in exchange for an end to Israeli strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut. The statement further added that this ceasefire would be extended across the entire territory of Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed his acceptance of the agreement. However, he warned that if Hezbollah does not stop attacking Israeli towns and civilians, strikes on Beirut will continue.
Netanyahu also said that simultaneously, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will continue their operations in southern Lebanon as planned.
Tehran warned that Israeli military actions in Lebanon threaten the current US-Iran ceasefire efforts. Following this, US President Donald Trump confirmed that he had spoken with both Netanyahu and representatives of Hezbollah, and that they had agreed to cease all hostilities.
Despite Trump's announcement that both sides had agreed to stop fighting, some clashes have been reported.
Hezbollah stated that it had carried out three attacks using drones and "artillery shells" on Israeli tanks and soldiers near two villages in northern Israel.
The Israeli military reported that it had intercepted two missiles launched from Lebanon. No casualties were reported.
Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that Israeli strikes had been carried out in several areas of southern Lebanon, and that the town of Debbin shook from an extremely powerful explosion.
