Beat cancer, build a Tk 537.60 crore business Empire with just Tk 7,000

Kanika Tekriwal

Starting with just Tk 7,000, she built a business empire worth Tk 537.60 crore. She is Kanika Tekriwal, the founder and CEO of JetSetGo, India’s largest private jet fleet. Her journey is a remarkable example of how unwavering determination and the resilience to fight against adversity can transform one’s destiny.

Born into a Marwari family, Kanika was expected by her relatives to follow the conventional path of completing her education and marrying into a wealthy family. However, she wanted to build a career on her own. After graduating from Coventry University in the United Kingdom, she decided to become an entrepreneur. But at the very beginning of her journey, she faced a devastating setback. At the age of just 21, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma. Although doctors had given up hope, Kanika refused to surrender. After a long battle, she defeated cancer.

After recovering from cancer, Kanika realized the true value of life and founded JetSetGo in 2014. Although she faced criticism and patriarchal barriers while entering the male dominated aviation industry, she remained firm in her decision. Without raising any major external funding, she launched the company with just Tk 7,000. Today, the company operates India’s largest fleet of private jets and helicopters. Her business empire has expanded across the world, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, New York, and Dubai.

In her personal life, Kanika married businessman P. Sharath Chandra Reddy. In 2021, she was included in the list of India’s top self made wealthy women. She has also been recognized in Forbes’ prestigious 30 Under 30 list and has drawn attention through the popular reality show Shark Tank India.
